BRIEF

San Michele, Venice’s cemetery island, is the resting place of some of the 20th century’s most influential figures — Igor Stravinsky, Sergei Diaghilev, Joseph Brodsky, Ezra Pound. The island is visually striking, but the stories, personal dramas, and historical impact of the people buried there stay hidden from the average visitor.

APPROACH

We turned the island into an augmented reality route — an immersive educational experience at the intersection of technology and cultural heritage, where each monument becomes a portal to the past.

Point a smartphone at a gravesite and Blippar overlays archival photographs, audio recordings of music and readings, and key biographical facts directly onto the physical site. The experience follows one clear flow: the project website, a route map of marked locations, and a unified interface at every tomb — a portrait of the figure, an audio play/stop control, and a link to their full biography.

I led a team of four, directing the web builders and everyone on the AR build, and did most of the work myself.
