Sandborn Sunglasses
ROLE
Product design, 3D modeling & prototyping
TOOLS
Rhino, Prusa CORE One, consumer FDM printer, TPU
BRIEF
A demo eyewear concept for Sandborn Swim, the bikini brand I co-created with my mom.
APPROACH
I modeled the frames in Rhino and treated the build as a test cycle: three rounds of 3D printing at San Diego State University, each one informing the next. A flexible TPU print came out too rubbery to hold its shape. A consumer FDM print was too stiff, with a slightly rough finish.
I uploaded the 3D model to Sketchfab, where it’s free to download. Download it on Sketchfab ↗
RESULT
The final print, on a high-precision Prusa CORE One, came out much smoother — the pair worn in the photo.
