Spatial Studies
ROLE
3D, VR & AR design
TOOLS
Maya, Arnold, Gravity Sketch, Meta Quest 3, Adobe Aero, Blender, iPhone LiDAR
BRIEF
An ongoing body of studio and class work at San Diego State University, testing how space, type, and story behave in 3D, virtual reality, and augmented reality.
APPROACH
Tesla Bots · AR Scene
An Adobe Aero experience: Tesla bots surround a mound of tires beneath a floating brain with a computer chip wedged into its side, while a voiceover on the digital future reflects on Descartes’ cogito — “I think, therefore I am.”
Freeform lettering reading “is this real,” drawn in Gravity Sketch on a Meta Quest 3 to explore gesture, volume, and material. The model later reappears above the TV and tire pile in the Tesla bots scene.
AGI · Airbrushed Painting with AR
An airbrushed painting with AR tracking layered on top in Adobe Aero. The voiceover asks whether we are truly conscious — and whether what we experience as consciousness could be artificially generated, as in a simulated reality.
I published the AI Visual model on Sketchfab, where it has 171 views and 13 downloads (as of October 2026). View it on Sketchfab ↗
Anthony · AR Prototype
A prototype in Adobe Aero built from iPhone LiDAR scans of my friend Anthony in his burned-down house and of the completely burned living room, combined with 3D models and Anthony’s own voice as he shares his story. His friend shared the building plans for the fire-damaged historic Business Block building in Pacific Palisades — which an engineering analysis shows can be about half preserved rather than completely demolished — and I colored the 3D model in Blender and placed it in the scene.
