Up-cycled Shoes
ROLE
Footwear Design · Campaign · Production
BRIEF
In 2022 I entered the Apollo Crypto × Centre contest, a public-vote competition for sustainable shoe design. My concept won $5,000 and advanced to the finals, where five shoe artists competed for a $25,000 grand prize decided entirely by votes.
APPROACH
With the outcome decided by votes, I ran my own campaign. I designed a flyer and printed cards that I handed out across Venice, posted daily Instagram stories and an in-feed post walking people through the free voting process, and engaged the contest community directly with Q&As and work-in-progress updates on the shoe.
RESULT
I finished third in the finals. The campaign led to a creative streaming role with EZZE, where I designed and produced custom shoes live three days a week, creating four one-of-one pairs from up-cycled clothing. In 2023 the collection was exhibited at the 3D Venice Art Crawl, organized by Tobi (co-founder of GRLSWRL) at Emeco on Abbot Kinney, with each pair shown alongside its process documentation and auctioned starting at $100.
